The Centre for Lifelong Learning and Extension is working since the last four decades in the field of Continuing Education in and around Vadodara.

The Centre for Lifelong Learning and Extension at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda was started in the year 1972 with the objective of making University resources available to the community. The Centre offers its educational resources to adult groups, community agencies and organizations, who are not regularly enrolled as full-time students and whose higher educational needs were not met by educational and other social institutions. The underlying objective of the Centre is to bring the community and the University closer by providing an opportunity to share the benefits and dividends of the University, its talent, research and resources.

The courses offered by the Centre provide personal growth and enrichment, catering to the most highly educated people on one hand and those with minimum basic education on the other hand. The Centre also offers courses for cultural and recreational purposes in art, music, and theatre appreciation. The courses are evaluated and modified from time to time; by the concerned Course Directors, Course Coordinators and experts in the related field.

The Centre is the only educational institution in the city of Baroda to offer a wide range of inter-disciplinary courses. There are long-term courses in the fields of Social Sciences, Commerce, Science, Management, Social Work, Interiors, Hospitals and Hospitality. The short-term courses are offered in computers, languages, arts & craft, Astrology and vastu shastra, yoga, acupressure and nature care and bonsai. There are a number of community outreach programs organized by the Centre at rural and urban areas for the up-liftment of women, children and adolescents, through the various courses.

At present, the Centre offers 29 short term and 22 long term courses. The total number of students enrolled in the current academic year is over 1672. All these courses are being taught by over 100 visiting faculties drawn from the Maharaja Sayajirao University as well as experts from outside.

The Centre conducts the classes on self-finance basis, therefore, the course commences only when enough number of students are enrolled. Hence, the commencement of the course is decided at a later stage.

Certificate of attendance will be awarded to the students, 80% attendance is compulsory to obtain the certificate in short-term courses. For the long term course every student will require 70% attendance to appear for the examination. The long-term courses marks sheets and certificates will be given after passing the examination. The certificates will be awarded and signed by the I/C Director of the Centre and the Vice-Chancellor of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.

Fees for the courses are to be paid in the Bank of Baroda; University Campus Branch, by cash only.

We, at the Centre are thankful to all who have directly or indirectly helped us over the years. We look forward to your suggestions and will try our best to incorporate them. Our motto at the centre is “Life Long Education”, so join us in our endeavor to educate all throughout the life span.
